Palmer Rapids is a very small village in Renfrew County. The largest city nearby is Barry's Bay. Palmer Rapids is set in a beautiful part of Ontario next to the Madawaska River with many lakes around it. It best known for white water rafting. Many visitors in the summer try their hand at the famous rapids. The busiest place year round is the local store just off the highway that goes through the village.
Palmer Rapids Grocery Store Besides food and drinks, the store offers video rentals. There is a post office near the store but no bank. (You can find a bank in Barry's Bay, about a fifteen-minute drive.) Palmer Rapids is not in an extremely remote location, but it is a very quiet area. Government housing is limited to the Raglan Meadowvale Apartments, which is right across from the village grocery store.
